[ watch Win Win online ] I really enjoyed the movie – it was really heartwarming and the characters were endearing. It’s easy to warm up to all the characters and Shaffer did a great job with his first role (he is actually a champion wrestler at his high school) playing the troubled teen. Amy Ryan is hilarious as the protective mother whose instincts kick in when Kyle stays with her family. Bobby Cannavale also had some great lines as Terry, Mike’s best friend. Win Win is not to be missed! The movie comes out in theatres March 18th.

“Win Win” is definitely one of those makes you feel good movies where troubled characters find their way out of a rut that seems to be an expansive pit of quicksand. It is a cute film and a funny film (mainly due to Bobby Cannavale), my only major issue with the film is that its message only works for the events contained within it; let me expand.
Mike Flaherty (played by the always entertaining Paul Giamatti) is a small town New Jersey attorney who is just trying to keep afloat. As the film opens, while there are no issues with his family, everything around them seems to be falling apart a little.
With a slow influx of clients, Mike decides to run a small scam, by becoming the legal Guardian of one of his elderly clients that nets Mike ,500 per month. Long story short, the client’s grandson, Kyle, had run away from his druggie mother and ends up staying with Mike due to a few too many circumstances that would be lengthy to get into. Now, on the side, Mike moonlights as the wrestling coach for the local high school and Kyle just happens to be a state champion wrestler in his home town. Things all around finally seem to be going well for Mike. Of course until Kyle’s mother pops up trying to get her father’s money and take Kyle back.
